Hi

I’m Rich, Acupuncture Educator in Buffalo, NY

Dr. Richard Hazel is a licensed acupuncturist, avid lecturer, and founder of the podcast The Acupuncture Outsider. Richard leads intensive, hands-on workshops around the world teaching advanced orthopedic
acupuncture techniques to clinicians. With a foundation in neurology and sports medicine, Richard presents an innovative strategy to patient pain, and in his seminars, gives practical instruction on how to apply his needle techniques.

After receiving his Masters and Doctorate of Acupuncture from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, Richard continued to study amongst the most prominent educators in the field. From neurofunctional acupuncture to functional muscular assessment, Richard’s revolutionary approach to
myofascial pain attains outstanding results for patients.

Richard’s own experience with a life-impacting back condition was pivotal in shaping his dual mission to help as many people as possible, and to show others acupuncturists how to do the same. Today he teaches his highly regarded Motor Point Acupuncture courses to audiences from Amsterdam to
Australia, and New York to California.

Richard has worked with professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, IFBB, Belator MMA, AEW as well as Olympic athletes in baseball, soccer and rugby and college athletes in many sports.

In addition to his extensive experience and skill in acupuncture, Dr. Hazel is a true renaissance man. If he’s not fighting trigger points, you might find him weightlifting, performing in a chamber choir, or speaking in one of four languages. Although not totally fluent (yet!) he regularly studies French, German, and Dutch with a tutor to better understand different cultures and to improve his connections with the people and colleagues he meets around the world. He hopes to eventually bring his workshops to Europe in the native language of the country where he is teaching.
